Bedford Historical Society Lynn Ryan Preservation is the word and ideal that this Society practices. They have acquired seven historic buildings on the Village Green and have managed and maintained the 1787 Courthouse, the Sutton Clock Tower on Guard Hill Rd. and the Bedford Oak. In 1916 concerned neighbors rallied to prevent a possible defacing of the Old North Church, now Historical Hall. Those first members made repairs and used the building as a small Community House. It is still used for this purpose today. Historical Society meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of each month, except in July and August at the Society's offices, 38 Village Green in Bedford Village. Annual dues are required for membership. Their goals continue to be preservation, protection of historic buildings and sites in the towns, which includes historic easements |
