The Bedford Village Chowder and Marching Club

Post Office Box 412
Bedford, NY 10506

www.chowderandmarching.org/

Founded in 1956, the Chowder and Marching Club raises funds for worthwhile activities geared to the youth of Bedford Village. Meetings are held in individual homes once a month except in July and August. The C&M Club has provided funding for the Scouts, Bedford Pound Ridge Lacrosse, Little League, Bedford Village Elementary School activities, scholarships at Fox Lane High School, Fox Lane’s Memorial Stadium and many other worthwhile projects.

The first weekend in May, in conjunction with the Town of Bedford, the Club holds its annual Dump Day at the Town highway garage on Crusher Rd. Pick-ups are available if arranged in advance, and prices (donations) vary depending on the amount to be collected. The C&M Tag Sale is held on that weekend right at the site and one can discover some real treasures there. Volunteers who wish to help with fund raising and road clean-up are welcome.

C&M also holds an annual dinner dance each fall.

The group's unusual name is believed to come from Revolutionary times, when the town folk would gather to eat chowder and then march to a central location for speechmaking.

Save these dates for 2007:
Dump Weekend: May 5th & 6th
Family Movie in the Park: to be determined (usually early September)
Annual Dinner Dance: October 27th at Historical Hall
