Girl Scouts of Westchester*Putnam Patricia Elwell Girl Scouts of Westchester*Putnam serves nearly 17,000 girls and over 5000 adult volunteers. Girl Scouts is open to all girls and adults with regard to race, religion, disability, economic status or national origin. The mission of Girl Scouts is the same as it was over 90 years ago when Juliette Low founded the organization--to give girls from all segments of American life a chance to develop their potential, to make friends, to have fun, and to become a vital part of their community. The organization is divided into program levels by age: Daisy Girl Scouts (age 5-6), Brownie Girl Scouts (age 6-8), Junior Girl Scouts (age 8-11) and Studio 2B Girl Schouts (age 11-17) Over 30 Girl Scout Troops in the Town of Bedford serve more than 250 girls. Information about local troop formation is distributed through the local schools. To find out how to become a Girl Scout or a Girl Scout volunteer, contact the Girl Scout Council at the number above, or visit our website. Volunteers are needed to be the leaders of troops, sharing their time and expertise to help girls share in the Girl Scout Experience. Girls have fun, make new friends, and learn skills that will last a lifetime. Each year, girls in troops to on trips, earn badges and try-its for completing activities and selling Girl Scout Cookies.
