Westchester Land Trust Paul Gallay Dedicated to protecting open space and promoting responsible land use throughout Westchester County is the main focus of WLT's mission statement. Their goals are also to protect the landscape that defines Westchester's communities and its quality of life; to preserve key scenic, wildlife, recreational and watershed lands; and to maintain and secure open spaces in urban areas. To accomplish these goals they acquire land and interests in land. Louis McCagg of Lewisboro founded the Land Trust in 1988. Thus far over 900 acres have been preserved in this area. You may join the group by phoning Bobbe Stultz at 241-6346. Volunteers work on areas to protect conservation easements and to limit development. An open program is held in June. The Land Trust also welcomes land donations and monetary contributions. |
