Bedford NY: Schools
The town of Bedford, NY is served by two public school districts.
The Bedford school district serves the
southern two-thirds of the town including the hamlets of Bedford
Village and Bedford Hills as well as the neighboring town of Pound
Ridge and parts of New Castle. It has a high school, middle school
and five elementary schools. The Katonah-Lewisboro
school district serves the northern one-third of the town including
the hamlet of Katonah, the town of Lewisboro, and portions of
the towns of Pound Ridge and North Salem. It has a high school,
middle school, and four elementary schools.
Three school districts neighbor the town of Bedford: Chappaqua
to the south and Somers and North
Salem to the north.
The town is also served by two private schools and a parochial
school. The private schools include Rippowam-Cisqua
which is a day school and provides Kindergarten through ninth
grade, and The
Harvey School which is a boarding school and a day school,
and provides sixth through twelfth grades. The parochial school,
St. Patrick's is a day school and associated with St. Patricks
Roman Catholic Church in Beford Village
In addition
to the local public and private schools, the town is served
by the Putnam/Northern
Westchester BOCES (that's the acronym for Board of Cooperative
Educational Services). BOCES serves eighteen public school districts
for special and occupational education, and also offers a Continuing
Education program for adults.
